Privacy
Microphone
KeyStage never uploads, records, or stores your microphone audio. When you enable listening mode, audio is analyzed entirely in your browser, in memory, to detect the pitch of notes you play. Nothing is sent to a server. Closing the tab, navigating away, or disabling the microphone immediately stops audio capture and releases the microphone.
Progress and Local Storage
Your song progress, scores, achievements, and settings are saved in your browser's local IndexedDB storage - a database that lives only on this device. No account is required, and no progress data is transmitted anywhere. Clearing your browser's site data for KeyStage will permanently delete this information, so use the Export Progress feature in Settings if you want a backup.
No Accounts, No Tracking
KeyStage does not require sign-up, does not use analytics or advertising trackers, and does not share any data with third parties. Anyone with the URL can use the app exactly as you do.
MIDI Devices
If you connect a MIDI keyboard and grant MIDI access, note data from that device is read locally to power gameplay and is never transmitted off your device.
